Make it a Daily Dose
By America’s Six Figure Real Estate Coach Roberta Ross
As we head out of one year and into the next, I’ve spoken with lots of coaching members who are evaluating and re-evaluating many of their daily habits so that they can set themselves up for an even better, brighter, more productive, and profitable year next year. It is inspiring to see agents engaged, willing, and wanting to better their business and better their lives.
There are a lot of important components to an effective business plan. Here’s one thing that I believe many real estate professionals overlook – taking time out to cleanse their MINDS. Just like that attic space that gets neglected, or sometimes left hand side of the desk pile that just keeps getting bigger, left unchecked, our minds tend to get cluttered. Throughout the course of a day, there’s a lot of junk that can collect there and distract you from your true purpose. Think of it this way. When you get up in the morning and you’re getting ready for the day of prospecting, meeting with clients, and showing properties, you wouldn’t DARE go out of the house without getting cleaned up, fixing your hair, brushing your teeth, or putting on your professional clothes – would you? Of course not! Yet, too often, we DO leave for the day without first taking the time to clear our mind and find our focus.
So let me propose a challenge for you. Carve a little time out of each day to clear out the cobwebs, shake off stress, cleanse the residue left by negative forces like the media and toxic people – and refocus. Re-energize. Expose yourself to positive, powerful thoughts and fill your mind with affirmations and having faith in your success. For me, I read and contemplate material that puts my mind and spirit at ease and focuses me on what is most important – which is what I am grateful for, what I want to attract and what I can do to succeed – and NOT on what I fear, regret or what is missing. Just 10-20 minutes of that before I start my prospecting, lead generation, preparing speeches, writing, relationship management, coaching calls – even family time – gives me an amazingly fresh perspective and the energy level to meet the needs of the day. I also like to take a hike in the woods, get outside and breathe fresh air for a solid 60-90 minutes. Find whatever does it for you. Some of you might enjoy other forms of exercise or meditation, or just some time in the silence amidst our noise-filled world. Whatever it is, taking that time each day to cleanse your thoughts, remind yourself to stop taking yourself too seriously, find your center – will come back to reward you in ways you might not even imagine. Higher productivity. More balance. Better relationships. Better health. It works, I promise you that.
Give it a try for a couple of weeks – and then see if it’s a daily practice you want to take into the New Year with you. I’d love to hear your thoughts! Share them with me here or on my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/6FigureRealEstateCoach. Enjoy!
