The truth is life is happening in the right here, right now. Sitting around waiting is costing you not just time – but life. Top producers don’t wait for the perfect moment, time, or even prospect to move forward. They make every day count. Every opportunity count. Every person they meet count. That’s not to say they are always working, or always on their game – of course not. They are just not waiting in line for anything. They are finding the balance. They are appreciating what’s right in front of them and making the most of that.
I’ll give you a perfect example. When the market slid into what felt like the abyss a couple years ago we saw agents leave the industry in droves because they had never built their book of business. Never put their valued customers and clients into a manageable database that they could connect with month after month – year after year. So they left. With nothing really to show for it other than experience. Why? Many say they ‘never got around to it’. So busy working IN they business they never worked ON their business. So busy chasing new commissions they forgot to stay aligned with the folks who ALREADY knew them, liked them, and trusted them enough to do business with them. They WAITED.
Now that the market has picked up we still see agents doing the same thing. Waiting for the perfect time to put those records into something that they can use. Waiting for the next commission. Waiting for the phone to ring. Waiting for floor time. Stop. Make managing your business like a business a priority. Delegate what you can and dig in where you must to put a system in place. Use your time wisely by blocking it out – adding time to prospect, present, close – AND have a life, and a family, and time to yourself. Because when all is said and done, you want to look back and say look at all I was blessed to be able to do – NOT “I shouldn’t have waited.”
